St Anton's reputation for off-piste comes from the Valluga cable car at 2,811m — to ski down to Zürs from the top station, resort regulations require you to be accompanied by a certified mountain guide. The Schindler and Kapall sectors offer long red runs; the Rendl bowl across the valley is quieter and faces north.

Tiers from Alber Sport (Dorfstraße 15), which runs a “7 days for the price of 6” week rate and 10% off online. Kids’ sets rent for roughly €9/day and boots-only from about €22/day across St Anton’s main shops, and Intersport lets under-10s ski free when a parent rents a full set.
Closest airports are Innsbruck (~100 km / 1h, the nearest), Zurich (~200 km / 2h, best for flight choice), Munich (~250 km / 2h30) and Friedrichshafen (~1h30). Best of all, St Anton has its own railway station in the village on the Arlberg line, with fast railjet trains from Innsbruck (~1h15) and Zurich (~2h20); the station is a 5-minute walk from the Galzigbahn.
Alber Check-In, Jennewein Ski-In and Intersport all run free heated overnight ski and boot storage right at the Galzig, Nasserein and Rendl base stations, so you collect warm, dry boots and ski straight onto the lift. Nasserein is the handiest ski-in/ski-out district; village-centre hotels are a short walk or free ski-bus ride from the gondolas.

Innsbruck airport → St Anton am Arlberg
Innsbruck is the closest airport at ~100 km; a shared shuttle or the train (change at Innsbruck Hbf) both reach the village in about an hour. Book early for busy Saturday changeover days.

St Anton’s signature runs are steep and often off-piste, so go Gold/Platinum rather than the entry tier if you’ll ski the top — it’s only about €14 more a day.
Kids can be almost free
At Intersport, under-10s get a free set when a parent rents; kids’ sets elsewhere start around €9/day, so always ask before paying full price.
Swap skis mid-week for free
Multi-day rentals let you change skis if the snow turns icy or powdery; treat one set as a base and upgrade when a storm rolls in.
A basic adult set of skis, boots and poles starts around €27–32 a day; a 6–7 day rental runs roughly €150 at the budget tier to about €280 for premium. Book online for around 10% off, or up to 30% at Hervis.
Alber Check-In Galzig (Kandaharweg 3) and Intersport Galzigbahn (Kandaharweg 13) sit right at the gondola, about 40–80 m away; Sport Jennewein and Intersport’s main shops on Dorfstraße 1–2 are a 2–3 minute walk.
All the main shops take Visa and Mastercard and usually contactless, but Austria still likes cash for huts, tips and small items, so carry €50–100 in euros as backup.
Alber, Jennewein and Intersport run free heated depots at the Galzig, Nasserein and Rendl base stations; leave skis and boots overnight and collect them warm and dry right next to the lift.
Helmets are included free in adult and children’s sets and are compulsory for children in Tyrol up to age 15; on St Anton’s steep terrain adults are strongly advised to wear one too.
The Ski Arlberg pass covers all 305 km and 88 lifts from St Anton to Lech-Zürs and Warth — buy it at the lift, not the rental shop. St Anton’s legendary après starts mid-afternoon slopeside at the MooserWirt and Krazy Kanguruh on the ski home to Galzig.
