Geneva airport is about 1 h 30 by road through the Mont Blanc tunnel — the shortest airport run of any major Alpine resort. Turin is roughly 2 h and Milan Malpensa about 2 h 30. Chamonix sits 20 minutes away on the French side of the same tunnel, which makes a two-resort trip genuinely practical. Buses from Aosta and Turin serve Courmayeur all winter; winter tyres or chains are compulsory.
Ski depots at Plan Chécrouit are the norm rather than the exception: Lo Chalet and the shops in the cable-car building store skis and boots overnight so you ride up in street shoes. If you stay in Dolonne, the gondola-base shops do the same and the lift is a two-minute walk.

The Dolonne gondola has large free parking beside it; the village cable car does not. Match your rental shop to how you arrive each morning.
Follow the sun round the mountain
Ski the Chécrouit bowl in the morning and drop into Val Veny after lunch — the north side keeps its snow and empties out after 14:00.
Skyway needs its own ticket
The Mont Blanc cable car is not on the ski pass. Buy it separately and save it for a clear day; in cloud you pay for a view you will not get.
Off-piste means a guide here
The famous descents from Cresta d’Arp and the Vallée Blanche cross glaciated terrain. Rent the wider skis by all means, but hire a guide with them.
